Choose Your Camfil Filter

This guide covers the five Camfil pleated furnace filters we carry in standard sizes. Answer two questions and you will know which one to look at.

Filter from another brand? Camfil replaces it.

If the size printed on the frame of your current filter is the same, for example 16x25x1, the Camfil filter slides into the same slot, whatever brand you have now. No need to buy the same brand again. Not sure? Ask us or call (888) 315-0105.

LOWEST PRICE Look at the Camfil Aeropleat III, MERV 8 Our most affordable Camfil filter. It captures dust, lint, pollen and mould spores, and it is the one to take if you want a reliable filter for the lowest price and change it on a schedule. Find your size ›

Before choosing MERV 13

A MERV 13 filter is more restrictive than a MERV 8, 9 or 11. Some heating and cooling systems take it without any trouble, others don't. If you are not sure yours can, check your system manufacturer's recommendations or ask a heating and cooling technician before you order.

CHANGE YOUR FILTER LESS OFTEN

2. How long?

LONG LIFE

Camfil Farr 30/30

MERV 8

The same filtration as the Aeropleat III: dust, lint, pollen and mould spores. More pleats, so it fills up more slowly and you change it less often.

EXTRA LONG LIFE

Camfil 30/30 Dual 9

The bars compare the five filters with each other, in the same size. MERV ratings are Camfil's, under ASHRAE Standard 52.2, and so are the air resistance ratings.

Will it fit?

Yes, if the size printed on the frame of your current filter is the same, for example 16x25x1. The last number is the thickness: 1, 2 or 4 inches. That printed size is rounded: the filter itself is slightly smaller, which is what lets it slide into the slot.

For peace of mind, measure your current filter (length, width and thickness) and compare it with the exact size listed on the product page. Not every filter is made in every size: the size list shows what we carry.

Your questions, answered

What does MERV mean?+

It is the scale that tells you how small the particles a filter captures are. The higher the number, the smaller the particles. Read the full explanation.

Why are there two MERV 8 filters?+

They filter at the same level but are not built the same. The Farr 30/30 has more pleats, so more media: it fills up more slowly and you change it less often. The Aeropleat III is the standard version.

Is the MERV 9 better than the MERV 11?+

Not for filtration. The Dual 9 is chosen for how long it lasts. For finer filtration, the AP-Eleven, MERV 11, captures more of the fine particles.

Can a higher MERV harm my system?+

Up to MERV 11, Camfil rates these filters at a similar starting air resistance, and the AP-Eleven is the lowest of the five in 1 inch. The MERV 13 is the one that asks more of your fan: read the note on MERV 13 above.

When should I change it?+

There is no fixed interval. It depends on your home: pets, renovations, a dusty neighbourhood, and whether the fan runs all the time. When your filter looks grey and loaded with dust, change it. A long-life filter simply takes longer to get there.

How do I remember to change it?+

Write the date on the frame of the new filter when you install it. Next time you check, you will know how long a filter lasts in your home. Then set a reminder on your phone or calendar for the next change. For example, if your filter looks grey after about three months, set a reminder for three months after you put in the new one.

What if I ordered the wrong filter?+

You can return it within 35 days of receiving your order, as long as the filters are new, unused and in their original packaging. Email us your order number and the reason first, and we will send you a return authorization. There is no restocking fee. Return shipping is paid by you, unless the item is defective or we sent the wrong one. Read the full return policy.

Still not sure? We're here to help.

Tell us what is printed on your filter, or the measurements you took, and we will help you find the right Camfil filter for your system.
