16x25x5 does not mean the same filter everywhere
The three filters on this page are sold as a 16x25x5. Their real size is 15 3/8 x 25 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches.
Not every filter sold as a 16x25x5 is 5 1/4 inches thick. If yours is a different thickness, none of these three will fit it, and none of these three can be replaced by it.
Go by the number, not by the nominal size. It is printed on the filter itself, not on the box.

Is this your filter?
Read the number printed on the frame of the filter you took out. These are the ones that match:
M1-1056, AMP-M1-1056, G1-1056, P102-1625, P102BB14A, 9183950
No number left to read? Measure the old filter. Nothing beats a measurement. Take the three sides with a tape measure, to the closest 1/8 of an inch. If you get 15 3/8 x 25 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches, you are on the right page.

FEWER CHANGES A YEAR
MERV 11 · Camfil M1-1056: the same MERV 11 filtration, in the same cabinet. Camfil rates it at 6 months, so a box carries you further before you have to think about it again.
HIGHER FILTRATION
MERV 14 · Five Seasons G1-1056: it captures finer airborne particles than a MERV 11. Five Seasons rates it at 6 months. Read the note below before you pick this one.
Before choosing MERV 14
A MERV 14 filter is denser than a MERV 11, so your system has to work harder to pull air through it. Some heating and cooling systems take one without any trouble, others don't. If you are not sure yours can, check your system manufacturer's recommendations before you order.
