Product Overview

The genuine Honeywell.
MERV 13, five in the box.

The FC200E1029, for 16x25 Honeywell F100 and F200 air cleaners. Same cabinet as the standard filter, higher efficiency.

Who this one is for

A MERV 13 catches finer particles than a standard filter. If someone in the house has allergies or asthma, this is the one worth paying for.

If nobody does, the MERV 11 version is the sensible choice and it costs less. We'd rather tell you that than sell you the wrong thing.

Straight answer: filters that catch more also slow the air down and make your furnace work harder. If your system is older or your ductwork is tight, stay with the MERV 11.

Why this costs more than the generics

You'll find filters that look the same for a lot less. About that MERV number: nobody checks it. There's no inspector, and no rule that says a filter has to be tested before someone prints a number on the box.

Honeywell does the testing, and puts their name, their address and the country it was made in right on the box. You know who made your filter.

So you're not paying for a fancier filter. You're paying for one somebody stands behind.

Is this your filter?

Pull the old one out and read the edge. If it says any of these, this filter fits your cabinet.

  • FC200E1029
  • FC100A1029
  • Lennox X0583 or X6670
  • Carrier FILCCCAR0016

It goes in these air cleaners:

  • Honeywell 16x25 F100
  • Honeywell 16x25 F200
  • Honeywell F150

Simply put, it fits any Honeywell Home air cleaner that takes a 16x25x4.

Real size: 15-15/16" x 24-7/8" x 4-3/8"
(40.5 x 63.2 x 11.1 cm)

One thing that trips people up. Honeywell prints 16x25x4 on the box, so that's how we sell it. Other stores call the exact same filter a 16x25x5. If you measured yours and got somewhere around four and a half inches deep, this is the one.

What it catches

MERV is just a score for how much a filter holds back. Higher number, more caught. This one is a MERV 13, and it holds back roughly 97% of the mid-sized particles that pass through it.

  • House dust, and the dust you stir up cleaning
  • Pollen
  • Pet dander
  • Mould spores
  • Dust mite debris
  • Finer allergens a standard filter lets through

Not sure what the numbers mean? Here's MERV explained in plain English.

Why the fit matters

A filter only works if it sits tight. This one is built for the F100 and F200 cabinet, with a cardboard brace across the middle that keeps the pleats from collapsing.

When a filter is loose, or when it sags, the air slips around the edges instead of going through it.

And you'd never know. It looks installed. It still looks clean months later. It just isn't catching anything.

When to change it

A MERV 13 catches more than a standard filter, so it fills up sooner. That's the trade you're making, and it's a fair one.

Check it two or three times a year and change it when it looks dirty. Pets, a dusty house or a renovation, and you'll be at the shorter end.

Which way it goes in

There's a big AIR FLOW arrow on the side of the filter. Point it toward your furnace, the way the air travels.

Backwards, it clogs faster and catches less. Not sure which way the air moves? Here's which way a furnace filter goes in.

One safety note

If you're putting this where an old electronic air cleaner used to be, the power to that cabinet has to be disconnected first. Honeywell is firm about this one. Leaving it live is a fire risk.
